It sure looks like he has a firm grip on exposure & lighting & as far as the
tilt is concerned, if he's going to try to make some money doing portraits &
weddings, then its just being competitive, but I persoanally find it
distracting, and at first blush is a sign of lack of completeness (like the
photog forgot to check it.)
Is he interested in doing commercial work ?

No, I would say that in the venue you sighted, architecture and sea
scenics, your assumption would be almost universally accepted and
correct. Since my son and daughter were married both in the past 14
months, I have seen a lot of what the current generation of wedding
photographers are showing, and the extreme tilt of horizons is very
popular. Sometimes I like that approach; most of the time I don't, but
only because I wasn't trained that way. But, that would lead to a
whole new discussion, wouldn't it? :-)

appropriate for wall to be vertical and floors to be level. Like I said,
maybe I'm just old school.

Boris, Nate is 27 this year. He says the tilts are done for effect.
Must be a "new school" approach? Thanks for the comments. Much
appreciated.

Excellent stuff. Two points.
1. How old is he?
2. I think that very often he consistently tilts his shots to the left
while this is unnecessary. I think, you could point this out to him in
a way that will not sound as discouragement.
Some brilliant pics in this set.

Every dad wants his kids to exceed their own talents and I think my
dream has come true. He has really developed a good eye I think, and
his technical skills are coming along quite rapidly as well.
