I agree. But are the mac.com sites realy incompatible with IE?

I honestly don't know, Paul. But I've tried it from enough "places" on the Internet with enough different systems and enough different browsers, that I think there is /something/ wrong. Maybe not every IE6 user has the problem I have ... I really couldn't tell you.

To be honest, the screen I get, looks like one that's done intentionally by the mac.com server developers. In case you're unfamiliar with it, web servers sometimes "sniff" the request to figure out which browser made the request. Then they tailor the HTML, images, etc., that they send down to satisfy the request, to better take advantage of the individual platforms' idiosyncrasies.

It looks to me like mac.com sniffs my browsers, doesn't see a Safari or Firefox ID, and produces the warning (IE7, IE8) or error (everything else I've tried) page. I could probably go in to the various browsers and change some settings, or recompile them from source, or mangle the binaries directly, and convince them to tell the server they're Firefox or Safari. But most people won't even know that's possible, much less how to do it, so they'll just go away if they get that error page.
