3 - Don't rely on "if there were something wrong with my web site people would have told me".
For myself, if there is some fatal flaw in a website, either a design that makes my eyes bleed, or page loading that is too slow (photonet is terrible most of the time), I just go elsewhere. I rarely go back, as if a website has annoyed me once, I generaly won't give it a second chance. I generally can't be bothered to tell a person if their website sucks, either they know it does, and it's deliberate, or they don't know, and are to stupid to get it. My Kennel club website is viewed 62.13% on IE6.x, my own website is as high as 63% on some pages, as low as 42% on others. Pages that I know are viewed primarily by other photographers are different, Firefox seems to be the dominant browser, but still less than half, with IE somewhat less than 20%.
Even at one in five users, I'd be concerned if my website wasn't compliant with IE, especially if I was using it for personal gain.
