Dave,
I did my poetry and photo books (text and photos, natch) in MS word and
then the file was uploaded
to lulu... there was a funciton there to turn it into a PDF file for
publication....
I think it worked really well....
The print quality of SIGNS GONE BY was not as good as the other two, but
that was probably as much
my fault as not...
The site gave me choices of fonts and such... I downloaded and proofed
the PDF files and it is all
free until you publish and want a hard copy....
seems hard to beat...
If you are comfortable using word and are using it seems the easiest
thing... I laid out the books in
word and inserted the images.
I was also pleased to find out my books, through lulu are listed on
amazon... I wish to hell someone
would buy one of the three newer ones so I see if it is an automatic
restock. :-)
I got quite a shock when I searched Amazon books the other day using my
full name... I had actually
only done it to check on how many copies of my first book were there and
if there was a good price
on one in fair condition... and voila! almost, too much information!
I can't run, and I can't hide...
wish I could turn it in to moolah.
pardon the babble... I'm wired because I found out what ever i have it
ISN"T a strep throat :-)

Hi All.
Over the years, with many tales and stories told in the survey lunch
rooms around the world, it has been suggested by more than one person,
that i should sit down and write a book about how land surveying has
changed from when i started, 1973 to when i was asked to retire, 2007.
I have many a tale to dictate.:-)
As of Thursday, I'll have some time on my hands till Sept 5th so i
might just have at it this summer.
I was thinking a Blurb or similar type book might be the best way to
go. Ease of publishing and fairly inexpensive.
Question is, would it be best to write the stories in MS word or
Apples version of word, THEN cut and paste the text and photos, or
just type away on Blurbs software.
I';m thinking the latter might be to hard to cut and paste when i
decide to move paragraphs etc.
Any thoughts.
