That doesn't look right to me, too much fringing.

FWIW, heres a recent sample from my Tamron SP LD ID 180mm
F2.5 lens. This is the best long tele I have ever
used on digital. Its so good, that I sold my SMCK200/2.5 which had
much more CA.

F8 setting was used on a istDS body. Check out the contrast in
the finest details, like the the freckles, this is really good MTF.

I uploaded some more samples to http://www.islandlight.ca/photos/temp. 
Which are perhaps a more fair test (not so high contrast)

There is so much flare around what is in focus that I have been tending 
to focus behind the subject because until I stop down it looks more 
sharp then what is actually in focus. I don't know if it is normal for 
that lens but it doesn't perform anywhere near the way my Pentax K 200mm

2.5 does (or any other lens that I have for that matter) and considering

the price I was expecting something slightly more impressive.
