Pentax do their own distributing in Hamburg, Germany. Used to be the European HQ. They're in the process of moving this to Paris. But Hamburg will remain as distributor für Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The saddest loss is Pentax' own service department in Hamburg which has been closed down recently. All Pentax service, including warranty repairs, has now been outsourced to a company already involved with the black side. While a turnover of two weeks used to be considered as already a tad long with Pentax own service department, German Pentax discussion forums are now buzzing with messages from disgruntled customers who have last seen their cameras and lenses almost three months ago. > People will start smuggling equipment in from nearby > countries to avoid the prices. No need to smuggle. We have one big common market with one common currency and no borders from Scandinavia down to the Mediterranean. > Complaining on PDML or anywhere online will do less good than a > written letter sent to the distributor with a cc: to Pentax and your > local store. As explained, Pentax *is* the distributor. I guess a message to Hoya would be much more appropriate as this is where the real culprits behind all this are to be found. Ralf -- Ralf R.
