Gang,

My AF540-FTZ has a quirk which I wonder if you guys could help me
consider for warranty claim. I'm pretty sure this can't be right...

The flash has various zoom settings, from 16mm to 58mm. When the flash
is zoomed to 48mm it gives 1.5-2 stops more light than at other zoom
settings. The TTL seems to work because I get consistent histograms
for all apertures on the lens, but the exposure is just two stops
brighter. Quite often this leads to blown highlights. I have tested it
with various lenses, and the behaviour is consistent.

I would have expected some variation as the flash zooms in and out,
but I can't figure any rational reason for why it should provide more
output at 48mm than the other zoom settings...

It _is_ a bit weird, isn't it?

Jostein
