Having used mine for many thousands of shots at weddings and events,
I can't say that I have ever noticed what you describe.  The P-TTL
can get fooled at times based on what is in the scene - highly
reflective objects or large areas of very dark or very light can
cause exposure problems - but I don't fault the flash for that.

How did you happen to notice this behavior?
