Sadly GM was making money almost everywhere except North America, and
they've been selling some of their more profitable units located
overseas, how that will help their bottom line in the long run I cannot
fathom.

I'm not sure if size really matters as long as the product sells. If
size mattered, GM wouldn't be having problems.
