Yes, the newer LX seem to be quieter than the older models, but I've noticed that, for some inexplicable reason, the camera is quieter with some lenses and noisier with others. I've mentioned this on the list before and no one's been able to come up with an explanation for it, and I've neither had the time nor the inclination to do a complete test with all my lenses and LX bodies.
