Less than 1/10th the size of a native WAV file and most versions of the MS 
Windows Media Player can handle it. Consider WAV vs mp3 as BMP/Uncompressed 
TIFF vs JPG and like jpg mp3 is more universal now than WAV files.

I have the gear set up, Neumann U87 mic and Tascam DA-P1 DAT in a nice quiet 
room, will process it all in the digital domain, you'd be surprised just how 
much can be learned from a high quality recording. Analogous to good film, good 
lens, good camera, good light, good exposure, good processing, you know the 
rest (output quality is up to you though :-)
