If you shoot mostly manual exposure mode
the metering doesn't matter. One thing
to note is that if you shoot with K/M
lenses and use stop down metering, the
split image blackout at small apertures
will cause overexposure if you don't
adjust for it. That's probably the reason
Pentax doenst make split image screens for their
DSLRs. with normal open aperture metering,
it doesn't cause a problem though.

Subject: Re: Still no split-image screen for the K-7?

I wouldn't be surprised if the K-7 and K10/20D screens were physically
interchangeable The cheap Chinese split image screens aren't actually
matched to the meters in the *ist-D/Ds or K10/20D, just surplus screens
from some other manual focus SLR shaved down to fit so I don't think
you'd be far off on exposure if you just substituted on of them in the
K-7. I think it will be a while before Katz-eye supports the K-7 they
probably want to make sure that enough will be sold to support the
market for third party accessories.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or
drinking; he can ruin himself with gambling. If he does he is certainly
a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not,
he is not a free man any more than a dog.
