When in doubt, consult Boj Dimitrov.  The K-mount pages tell me that
the F50/1.4 weighs 230g, while the FA50/1.4 weighs 220g.  Considering
that the FA lens also has the addition of the MTF chip, the difference
is probably because polycarbonate has replaced metal in the lens's
construction.  10g reduction seems about right because the metal in
the F would most likely have been aluminium, not brass like Takumars
of old.  .

Thinking about what a fragile metal aluminium is, polycarbonate may
actually be stronger and more impact resistant and not necessarily a
backward step.
