nothing other than saying high voltage or high current flashes will
bugger the camera.  though I must say that I love PDF versions of
manuals for this kind of thing.

FWIW, I plugged my old Metz 60-CT-2 into the K-7's PC socket and went off and shot a wedding with it last month. I kinda think that if the manufacturer is putting a PC socket onto the camera they are probably putting a voltage protection circuit in as well, if for no other reason than to keep cameras from coming back for warranty work.
