I'll wade into the silliness:
Cropping a photo is no less ethical than using a zoom lens, or
choosing where to aim the camera.
If Newsweek paid the photographer for the rights to use the photo any
way that they choose, then there is nothing unethical about their
choosing to crop it.
It's a boring photo, and Cheney is the only one in it that seem to
have any relevance to the discussion. Cropping out the other people,
or the wine glass is no less ethical than straightening it.
I agree with this point-of-view 100%.
