I did one wedding a few years ago entirely in B&W, using the 6x7 and 4x5 cameras. That was a blast!. The 6x7 is kinda noisy in the church, but no louder really than the screechy whine of a motor driven 35mm camera, and a lot less irritating. You do have to choose your shots carefully because you only get 20 shots on a roll. I have heard a lot of noise about flash sync being a problem with the 6x7. I disagree. If you are working outdoors on a sunny day, find a shady spot to put the people, or turn their backs to the sun, and use the sun as a hairlight. You might get slightly dense negatives, but it is no problem. My favourite wedding technique now is to put the sun behind the subjects and use a reflector to fill. This does away with the need for flash entirely. I think that 35mm is still best for the church, which is primarily candid photography. It is more important to get the shot, and have some insurance exposures, than to get the best image quality anyway. It is a trade off, but I have never sold an image bigger than 8x10 from the church stuff, and 35mm is adequate for that print size. William Robb - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
