R2400 here: I change ink cartridges when the printer stops printing. If two more than the one that stopped the printer are flashing, I change both of them at the same time as well as the dead one. If it's only one, I risk it and change only the dead one.
The reasoning behind this: Given that ink carts are $13@ and the amount of ink I'd lose by changing a cart when it just starts flashing vs when the printer stops entirely is essentially a $1.30 expense (10%). The initiate/purge cycle consumes less than 5% or a max of $0.65. The initiate/purge cycle will often consume all the remaining ink in a cartridge that has already been flashing. If this happens and I need to stop the printer to change out another cartridge more than twice, I'm wasting less ink to replace all flashers in one go. -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
