Here's a strong recommendation for teh Sigma 17-70. I had it for a while when I had my K10D. You give up QSF, but get a lens which is as fast or faster throughout its range than the DA 16-45 and is better built, is a very good performer optically, offers 1:2.3 magnification and has a zoom lock which locks it at 17mm I generally used it as a 17mm prime with reach when I needed it, mostly left it locked at 17mm. And I wish I still had it, it would have been nice on my DS. -- M.
