Kids are a protected class, and should be, in most curcumstances.
However I wouldn't hesitate to stand up for my rights with a Police
Officer most places in the US, or most other "civilized" places. I'll
tell a rent a cop to simply screw off or I'll call a real cop, politely
if they're polite, not if they're an a**h***. A kid is serious trouble,
and one who's parents, (or teachers), have instilled the proper level of
paranoia into, can be bad news indeed.

Yes and no - I think it is a good thing that these days kids are
encouraged to protect themselves and not be naive potential victims
yet on the other hand too much of that can cut into their childhood
which they have a right to enjoy, too... tough call...
