I much prefer the original. I think grain is a plus in a photo like this, and diminishing it has also reduced the image's sharpness. The brightness change is inconsequential here, and any more brightness might not be a plus. I think the deep tones are probably the way to go here. I'd still like to see some cropped off the left, but I'm not sure I'd prefer that. But it does seem like it would be more focused.
