Hi!

Yesterday I realized, well I noticed, that my A 50/1.2 misfocuses on
the K-7. I made a shot of a car from about 10 meters and it came out
soft. I shrugged and tried again and it came out soft. Then I
deliberately focused farther from what the screen was indicating was
in focus and it came out just fine. It never happened with my K10D
after I installed KE screen there.

What can I do to effectively solve this issue?

Send me the lens, it won't be a problem for you any more.

Have you carefully calibrated the focusing screen with all of your lenses? You may have just noticed it with the 1.2 because of the shallow DoF.

The trick is to get something with distance markings and place it 45 degrees to the axis of the lens. Focus on something at the midpoint and see where the focus really ends up. I find it easiest to use something with a sharp edge that is shorter than the measuring device so you have a sharp edge to focus on in the middle of the lens. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157616791044492/

Hi Boris

Yvon has this nifty chart you can download and print on card. Won't solve your problem but you can quantify it.
