Hi Boris

Yvon has this nifty chart you can download and print on card. Won't
solve your problem but you can quantify it.

Well, I did print the chart, but forgot it in the office today. Instead, I took the camera and made a number of shots close to minimal distance of focus under conditions similar to those described in the procedure - printed text, roughly 45 deg incline, few book shelves, a table calendar, more printed text. When I take my time and concentrate on what I see in the viewfinder - it comes out spot on in focus. Aperture being f/1.8. Since I am shooting handheld, I cannot see any consistent front or back focus behavior - I just hit the focus point.

Given the fact that the screen was installed by local Pentax service, which I do hold in certain esteem, it is only getting more interesting. May be it's been my mistake. May be the viewfinder magnifier that I have is not providing enough magnification...

The hunt goes on.

Boris
