Not really, no. Farming isn't as ecologically destructive as strip mining, tailings ponds, or paving, but whether you're eating beef or soybeans, whatever used to live where the farm that grew them now is doesn't live there any more. This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine; farming *of any kind* takes over a big chunk of ecosystem and gets rid of a lot of animals.
