Mike; I agree and would WANT only what I would USE. Obviously our photographic subjects differ because her is my list:
24 35 or 40 50 (one fast maybe one macro) 100 macro 200f4 macro 300f2.8 400f2.8 600f4 800f5.6 (maybe....) Maybe a 28-105 zoom for candids along with the lenses however I WANT a large variety of accessories to go between my cameras and lenses such as bellows, 'stension tubes, teleconverters, etc. Christian "No I'm not compensating for anything..."
