Yikes! I put it in a plastic bag, let it come back to room temperature,
then just tested it on the K10D. Seems to work fine. We thought the
batteries would be dead for sure, but I got 4 shots off. I feel lucky. It's
an omen: it's going to be a great year for ALL Pentax photographers. :-).
Cheers, Christine
I'm glad your flash is working, but I'm also wondering why you'd be concerned?
The only problem I would foresee would be the possibility of batteries
losing their charge, but I'd expect them to be "re-invigorated" once
warmed up to room temperature.
Why put in a plastic bag while warming up?
Is there a potential problem that I'm not aware of here?
Thanks!
cheers,
frank
Two possible problems, uneven expansion/contraction of the materials in
the battery during temperature extremes might split the case with
resulting leakage and condensation of moisture from the, relatively
humid, inside the flash fouling the electronics. Mind you I haven't
seen the first happen since I was a kid, modern batteries are made of
different materials, and the cases are better sealed.
