You are correct, firing their higher paid salespersons was not an immediate
cause of the bankruptcy filing, it was however the first of many moves made
by senior management which greased the slope leading to an inevitable
failure. Let your leading sellers go, replace them with kids who have no
knowledge of products or selling, then wonder why sales have fallen from
last year. Oops, let cut some more to make up for it. repeat...

bankruptcy though. It was just something that happened along their already
descending arc.
It's more like in the movies when somebody falls off a cliff, their body
bounces off the rocks a couple of times on the way down.
