Got it, thanks guys!  I'll make the switch to DNG then, to simplify it all -
one less thing to think/worry about!

PEF is Pentax-specific.  DNG is a standard of sorts.  So the advantage to
DNGs is that almost all raw file processing software already knows about it;
you don't have to futz about with per-camera upgrades.
