The tour guide mentioned that right after every one was laid off at
the plant, the US came up and hired all of the engineers away and to
the US, that eventually became Nasa.
I understand the Canadian Government planned a transition, phasing out
the program to ease the impact on the workers, but Avro's CEO Crawford
Gordon fired the entire Arrow production team the day the government
announced the program cancellation.
That's why all those engineers were available to be hired; because of
one man's spite, they were all suddenly unemployed.
