perhaps you don't think i'm getting it because i'm not taking a side
on the constitutional argument at all, so i'm not arguing about what
you want to argue about; i just objected to your rhetorical statement,
"who pays attention to that musty old document these days"
I don't even know how to answer the your "selfish" charge. I doubt that
90% of the affiliates made enough from Amazon to pay their web hosting
costs. The internet gold mine just isn't there.
it's not a "charge", just an observation that Amazon affiliates aren't
the Constitutional Defense League -- they are motivated by business
reasons; and some of them do make a substantial amount; some have
(foolishly, imo) made affiliate sales a pillar of their long-term
business plan (e.g. theonlinephotographer.com)
Obviously you didn't get it. Where in that last statement did I make
any reference to the Constitution at all. I just pointed out how
pointless it was to take a pittance from those who have only a pittance.
and by the way calling someone "selfish" is a charge, because it's a
loaded word. If you say someone is selfish, then in many peoples minds
it becomes less of a problem to trample them, after all they were being
selfish.
They are self interested just as everyone else is. But I don't care if
they operate from selfish interests or not.
I do care if the government at any level over steps it bounds. It's
already too powerful. The power to tax is the power to destroy, if it
destroys someone or something by accident or design, makes no difference
to me.
