Bob, don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining. Merely pointing out a
possible course of action.

My personal preference is perhaps mirrored by others: trawling, if I see
something that interests me, and that there may be a very good chance
that I would bid, then I bookmark the page, and that's that. If the item
holds my interest, but I have absolutely no intention of bidding on it,
then I will alert the list. I see this as pretty reasonable, and I have
every intention of helping out others who may not be aware of something
either on eBay or elsewhere. I apologise to those who would rather it
kept quiet, but as ar as I am aware, the PDML doesn't operate a 'Don't
Mention Ebay' policy. If it did, I would comply, and still stay :-)

>The problem that I have is with the folks who come on the list in the last

I see your point, but that's difficult to police - there will always be
those who by ignorance or by choice will not understand and/or adhere.
Okay - how about a 'Don't Mention An Ebay Item With 24 Hours Left To Run'
policy? Anyone who's ever bid on eBay will know the feeling when prices
rise unnecessarily...

Agreed. But personally I see nothing wrong in alerting the list to an
item that one would assume is sought after by like-minded web-friends.
After all, we can't all keep an eye on eBay 100 percent of the time.

I think what it boils down to is this: you either have a hush-hush policy
regarding eBay (etc), or you don't. From where I stand, hush-hush means
selfishness, and I am guilty of that! But - generally speaking, it is not
in my nature to be silent - I'd rather operate in a free atmosphere where
information is not rationed. Please - I'm not responding directly at you
per se, simply stating my point of view.

IMO, an item is worth exactly what the would-be purchaser is willing to
pay for it, competition and all. I suppose that there are degrees of
competition though :-)

Kind regards,

Cotty
