however, it is not normal for Adobe Reader to crash a lot, so that
problem should be resolvable; if clearing the font caches doesn't work,
i'd look at the crashlogs for telltales in the backtrace (sometimes
something obvious will stand out), and if not, try creating a new user
account and performing the operation from that account (which would
isolate whether it a user-specific setting causes the crashes)
