The other half is encouraging me to enter some of my pictures for the local newspaper's amateur photo competition. the competition doesn't seem to have any categories and has a 2 stage judging process: Initially the newspaper staff select a shortlist of entrants, and then these entries are finally judged at a viewing by members of the public.
Never having entered such a competition before has anybody got any opinions on the type of photographs, subject matter, color vs. B&W, size of print etc that would do best at this sort of competition? Whilst I think I will just pull out 3 of the pictures that I like best this may help my judgment as to whether one image or another would be more suitable.
