I have used both Apple and PC computers for many years. Yes, there are problems with Apple software. Those problems are NOTHING compared to the problems with MS software. Only one word in necessary: Vista. XP itself was an incredibly unstable platform; I had to install 4 upgrades, or whatever they call them, before I could get any kind of reliability out of my XP machines.
My son is a computer administrator who has worked with both systems for years. As he puts it, PCs are fine hardware for Unix or Linux, it's just when you try to load a Microsoft Virus (OS) on them that they freak out.
