Sounds like XP, or worse Vista? > On Sat, May 1, 2010 at 10:03 PM, Jeffery Smith <[email protected]> wrote: >> Mac [...] boots up and connects to drives, the web, etc. in about 45 >> seconds. Sounds like your system is all messed up - "not responding" is not default Windows behaviour =P I've yet to switch to Mac but have to give it to M$ that with Win7 they've for the first time since 2000 Pro (and before) put an OS in my hands that is actually fast and stable and clean. I am super happy with it and since they've split it into chunks that are loaded as needed both startup and running are quite fast plus it works well on older hardware. My ex-XP Lenovo T61 runs faster under 7 than it ever did under XP. Vista RC1 had despite 2 GB of RAM and a reasonably fast CPU for all practical purposes brought it to its knees, mind you. So if you're unhappy with Windows, you may actually want to try an upgrade on your old hardware. Just make sure you have a version which includes the XP Virtual Machine so that you can run all legacy software. *end shameless plug* Cheers Ecke -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
