I bought an Epson 2000P printer soon after they came out. It arrived DOA. I contacted Adorama.com (where I bought it), and they gave me a long list of pedestrian things to do that stretched out for several days (such as make sure that it is plugged in, that I'm not in the middle of a blackout, that there is ink in the cartridge). When they had delayed me for enough days, they told me that I missed the opportunity to return it...the maximum number of days had transpired. They were counting the number of days since the purchase day (on-line), which of course was about 6 days before I received it. So Epson sent me a refurb.
It's pretty hard to hardball them when they are 1,000 miles away, so I try to buy most things locally. Unfortunately, when what you are looking for is something other than a Canon Rebel, you have to order from out of state.
