Eric,

I have updated my DS and that was mostly painless. IRC, just put the firmware on a SD card (I think I had to create a directory) and turn it on. I had not heard that you could load the DS2 firmware. Hmmmmmm. I will search to see if I fnd any mention of that.

Thanks, John. The story of my life, not just my old age, might be said to be one of endless interests, even passions, and even talent for some, but not enough persistent commitment to any. Perhaps age is finally making me come to terms with that. Perhaps -- perhaps -- my last decade or two will be the most creative.
All this is being brought to a head somewhat by thoughts of finally retiring, themselves
motivated by the now inescapable fact that time and opportunity are not limitless. [Which
brings to mind one of the most beautiful books I have ever read -- "Time and the Art
of Living," by University of Oregon Shakespeare scholar Robert Grudin.]
Also, I have a Ds and love it.. It does what I want, even when what I want is
dead wrong. I have both bought, sold and had cameras serviced by KEH. Good
people!

I've been corresponding with them today about the DS they have for sale. It's
pure body only. No manual, software, or cables. They're uncertain whether as
purchaser of a used camera I would be able to upgrade the firmware to DS2
level, as has been indicated earlier here can be done. [I don't intend that as
a comment on the quality of their service, just as a fact I have to consider
and to deal with if I buy the camera.]
