I for one almost never look at anything other than "buy-it-now"  -- no
time to wait out an auction and don't want to bid max in the beginning.
EBay makes it easy by puting this red icon next to the items.

So the point is, that as a seller, you don't necessarily get the benefit
of bigger crowd by dragging it on longer.

If a seller is content to sell at a price, then (if I were him) I'd use
that as "buy-it-now" price, and let the auction takes its course if it
doesn't sell that way.  In fact, I tend to use a low "buy-it-now" price,
to get it over with quickly.
