Hi all, I downloaded and installed GIMP a couple of days ago. I've tinkered around with it, just to check out the user interface, but haven't really attempted to do any real editing with it yet. It looks like a very capable editor from what I can tell, but I'm speaking as a relative neophyte when it comes to image editing. I did notice that there are some things that it lacks that are standard in Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and other image editors -- particularly automatic color level and image enhancement. I assume there are plug-ins for things like that, though I don't know that for a fact.
Does anyone else have any experience with GIMP? I mean, if it can be made to do the common tasks that other image editors do, I don't see how one could go wrong, considering the price comparison -- free vs. a godzillion dollars. Tips and pointers appreciated!
