Cafe Press prefers PNG for a couple of reasons:
* It's good for graphic designs (as opposed to photographic images)
* It uses lossless compression, so you don't have to choose a
compression setting -- this prevents their customers from f*cking up
their own products by using excessive JPEG compression... and blaming
Cafe Press when they look like crap
The lack of embedded ICC profiles is moot because Cafe Press doesn't
use a color managed workflow.
I've started using png for all the non photo stuff already - at first, I
was only using it for the designs that needed to be in layers
to put stuff on dark shirts.

as to the lack of embedded profiles - hehe, no wonder someone said on
the phone once that either SRGB or Adobe was ok .
