not necessarily, if they omit the long throw portion of the focus drive helix they save a few cents on the barrel and can use the same glass with a longer minimum focal distance. it would be completely senseless though given that to compute an optical formula is probably cheaper than to design a barrel so I think it is more likely a formula with less elements... either way it looks like a somewhat pointless offering to me but who knows what they know that I don't Cheers Ecke ----------------------------------------- Cameras don’t shoot people.
