I'm using an old IR remote off one of Pentax's old film compact cameras - works well and cheap too! My problem with IR remotes is that they don't trigger the mirror-up, self timer option that the wired remotes do (at least they don't on the *istDS and K200D). And using an IR remote from behind the camera requires a bit of flexibility that I'm sadly lacking these days :-)> When I'm doing landscape photography using a tripod, I like to use the mirror-up option to minimize camera shake. The fact that the K-x and K-r don't have a wired remote port (when the earlier low-end cameras did) is very disappointing.
