OK, it seems I was wrong - not for the first time and definitely not for the last. The IR remote *does* trigger a mirror-up option on the K200D. In my defence the manual is ambiguous. In describing the self timer operation, the manual specifically mentions that the mirror goes up with the 2 sec delay option, but when discussing the 3 sec delay with the IR remote it doesn't mention mirror-up. So I assumed (wrongly - I just tested it) that the mirror only went up when the shutter opened. I really do need to study the manual more closely....
