On 26/9/10, Jeffery Smith, discombobulated, unleashed:

>I used 35mm film for so long, 4:3 just got to be "normal" for me. 5:4
>just seems cramped to me, especially since television screens started
>getting wider.

FYI, with aspect ratios:

35mm film (used in standard film cameras) = 36mm x 24mm = 1.5:1
Standard definition TV = 4:3 = 1.33:1
High def (also European digital TV) = 16:9 = 1.78:1

so 35mm film would have a wider aspect ratio (uncropped) than 4:3 which
is why I found your choice of crop interesting. I think there are a few
digital cameras today producing 4:3 aspect ratios, most notable teh
4/3rds system. What do the digital Leicas do, like the M8/9 ?
