Tan, I do the same thing too. Three of my grandchildren were here for the last two days, and taking shots of them dancing you have to be quick, no time to muck about with menus and buttons. The alternative is manual focussing, pre-set usually to where the action point will be - a technique I used when there was a sack-race for the kids at another grandchild's birthday recently. I have to say that I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to some of the fancy features on today's digital cameras: it's sometimes hard to see the point (pun intended!). I think it was Weegee who said that the secret of his success in photography was "F8 and be there" - I go along with that.

While I don't do a lot of studio portraiture, I do some, and I frequently shoot people. I admit I sometimes have to reposition from the top or second tier outside point before clicking the shutter. I guess I've learned to live with that inconvenience and don't even think about it. But a few more points in that area wold be helpful. However, I still want the fast, low-light lock on the most. That would make ti a winner for me.
