Info coming from repair techs needs to be interpreted.  They only have
experience with the broken stuff.  They don't get a lot of experience
with the stuff that works.

Many years ago I ran a stereo repair shop.  One of my techs always
recommended a particular equipment brand to his friends because they
were easy to fix.  He never recommended the better stuff because it
seldom had problems and he never saw it.

His friends probably would have preferred the stuff that didn't break.
