I have a shoot in Martinsville, Virginia at a race car engine building shop. I'll be shooting engine assembly procedures, parts and equipment indoors. It will probably take me the better part of a day.
My travel expenses will be reimbursed whether I drive or fly. My first thought was fly. For sure. But looking at flights, I'd have to fly into Greensboro, NC and I'd have to change planes, perhaps twice. The shortest flight would be 4 1/2 hours. To that add the two hours prior to flight time that I'd need to travel from home to the airport and deal with airport crap. Then another hour at the other end. So Im at 7+ hours. And that's if all the flights are on time. Martinsville is 600 miles from my front door. I can drive there in about ten hours. If I drive, I can take more equipment -- perhaps even my studio strobes. I'm thinking now that I should drive. But I don't like to drive for ten hours, twice in three days. If I fly. I can work on some of my writing on the plane, so that's a big plus. Can't decide. It's a dilemna.
