The other problem with IQ is that it's an intangible quantity that
cannot be measured--it is also highly subjective. The other day on a
thread discussing some Pentax camera or other someone said something
to the effect of "Canon's IQ is superior", and he said it in a
matter-of-fact way that lead me to believe HE believed it to be an
Ultimate Truth. I'm sure Canon's propaganda machine added another
notch to its belt after his post.

It's not the first time I've heard or read comments like these, and I
draw two conclusions:

1) IQ is highly subjective.
2) Those who don't have a preference will go with the company who's
propaganda machine is most effective.

The only absolute statement I make about IQ is in regards to Olympus's
JPEGs; to me they are simply the best in the business. Note that I
still had to say "to me".

I agree with your conclusion, Dario. I have a large print (about 35x46
cm) taken with a 6MP P&S; nobody ever guesses it wasn't taken with a
DSLR.
