An article I once read on camera refurbishment suggested just the type of paint you used with one modification, it was afterwards "baked" under an incandescent desk-lamp, near enough for reasonable warmth but not so near to cook the camera. Be aware that model paints often have their own specific thinners that are different to those for general purpose paints. A little polishing with a nail buffing pad when it's dry and the repaint should be almost undetectable :)
