They might check out NC 209 south from Hot Springs to US 74 near Lake Junaluska. The top end is in the Pisgah National Forest. It is very lightly populated and has a distinctly isolated feeling, at least to me. The southern half has some some agriculture but is still lightly populated. A road runs along side the French Broad River between Asheville and Hot Springs. [Various route numbers apply] I haven't driven it but I imagine it would be very scenic. The river flows north to Hot Springs. The Nantahala Outdoor Center runs float trips on it during the summer. It might be possible to arrange a private float trip this time of year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eric Weir Decatur, GA USA [email protected] -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
