In brief, I am finding that quite many people are hmmm well, let me put it this way - gear oriented too much, so that they would buy and encourage others to buy a new piece of gear even if reality does not require that.

Very clear now, and I quite agree. However, I find this list much more easygoing now and less gear-oriented than it used to be. About me, I'm usually interested in knowing how new gear performs, while I don't die behind it when I don't think it won't help me significantly. However, other folks cound be interested in specs I find useless or counterproductive (e.g. 100% FOV), so why not let them know? Given the kind of photography I do, any improvement in high-ISO performance (and AF too) is paramount, while I stay cold with most other specs. That's the reason because I gladly skipped the K-7, while I gladly skipped the K-7

P.S. Did you think of Co*tty* but were so*rr*y thereby producing a new word of English language? :-) I marked the relevant word by slashes (italics)...

;-) Sorry, just a typo!
